Choosing the right ink for your job is just as important as choosing your t-shirt. At Threadsy, we specialize in printing with water based and discharge inks, however, we also print with plastisol ink when the job calls for it. If this sounds confusing, don't worry. We will select the perfect ink for your job to give you the perfect look. Read below to learn a little more about our inks.
Water Based Ink
Water based inks create the softest possible print and are the most eco-friendly inks on the market. What we love about these inks is that they actually penetrate and dye the fibers of the shirt, unlike plastisol inks that lay on top of the fabric. These inks work best on light and/or organic garments.
Pigment discharge is a printing method that removes the original dye of the fabric and then re-dyes it with the chosen color. This is an excellent option for printing bright colors on dark shirts and still maintaing a super soft feel. This process works best on 100% cotton fabrics but can also be used on cotton/poly or tri-blends for a more vintage looking print.
Natural discharge is an alternative to printing a white ink on dark colored fabrics. This process is similar to the previous method but creates a natural cotton color. This method also produces a super soft feel. Works best on 100% cotton fabrics but can also be used on cotton/poly or tri-blends for a more vintage looking print.
Plastisol ink is a nice alternative to water based inks if you want to create a vibrant print regardless of the t-shirt fabric. Unlike water based, the ink sits on top of the fabric. This means that you can feel the ink.
